Callum joined Euroforest in 2016 as a Trainee Manager working in Dumfries & Galloway and Northumberland. Prior to Euroforest Callum gained experience working as a self-employed Agricultural Fencing Contractor soon after finishing school. He then pursued further education at Newton Rigg, where he completed a two-year Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture. During his studies he gained valuable forestry experience working one day a week with local contractors in the Lake District.
Once Callum graduated, he worked on the North Island of New Zealand for eight months, where he undertook a range of land-based activities including tree felling, and agricultural and drainage contracting. Upon his return to the UK, he worked as a hand cutter undertaking a range of work from thinning, clear fell and continuous cover forestry.
Callum was drawn to Euroforest as an opportunity to broaden his commercial awareness and further his career development within the forestry industry. During his time with the company, Callum has progressed and is currently the General Manager for Cumbria and Lancashire where he manages harvesting sites within his area. In his role Callum oversees a range of activities and has been very successful managing and overseeing a complex skyline long term contract with Forestry England in the Lake District National Park. These contracts have high levels of stakeholder engagement and significant public access. He also spends a great deal of his time developing client and customer relationships.
Callum has a keen interest in the benefits of woodland management and the impact this has on the quality and growth of trees to produce the best timber for the future.
