Alec Pearson, Area Manager (Arb) for Central England and Wales has been undertaking Ash Dieback works in Falstone through a long-term contract with Forestry England. The dismantling of 148 infected Ash trees along public footpaths and roadsides is necessary and has required considerable planning to allow the works to be completed safely.
Ayrshire Tree Surgeon Ltd have been undertaking the removal using their Sennebogen 718e. The roadside element has now been completed and was managed safely with the use of chapter 8 compliant stop-go traffic management systems. Works are continuing along public footpaths where two fulltime banksmen who are utilising two-way radios to communicate are in operation to ensure the highest level of public safety is maintained. Warning signs as well as information on the works have also been set up along all routes.
