Ashley Williams Returns to Harvesting Site 40 Years After Planted

Cameron Smith, Deputy Managing Director and Ashley Williams, Projects Director, recently visited a challenging Euroforest harvesting site in the Scottish Borders.  This prominent, steep harvesting site on the side of the A7 has a number of constraints including powerlines, an A-class public road, nesting birds, and watercourses.  

 Ashley was last involved in this site when it was planted back in the early 1980’s and was keen to get back on site to see how the harvesting was progressing over 40 years later.  The site is being worked by Dick Brothers Forestry who are using pioneering winching and extraction methods to minimise hand felling with chainsaws and provide a site for planting which does not require further ground preparation.
