Celebrating International Woman’s Day in the Timber Harvesting and Marketing Industry

Happy International Woman’s Day!  A celebration of all women and a great opportunity to raise the profile of women working in the forestry industry.  Lynn Garroch, Euroforest’s Trainee Area Manager in the Scottish Borders has already had a long career in forestry having started her career in sawmilling before becoming a harvesting supervisor and now a trainee Area manager.  Lynn discusses what it’s like to work in an industry with a low level of female employment at an operational level.

“Forestry is a great industry for everyone.  I really enjoy my job and I would encourage anyone thinking about getting into the industry to give it a go.  I think because the industry is known as being predominantly male, it often puts women off.  It’s a highly professional industry and I haven’t found any opportunities restricted because of my gender.  I work with a great team and find my role incredibly rewarding with no two days ever the same.”
